Job Description

The National Blood Service Zimbabwe is inviting applications for the position of Laboratory Wash-Up Attendant on a five-year fixed term contract. The role involves maintaining cleanliness, sanitation, and proper waste handling within the laboratory environment while supporting operational efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Cost effective upkeeping of plants and flowers.
  • Collecting laboratory consumables from stores.
  • Compiling periodic (daily, weekly and monthly or as needed) wash-up reports for decision making.
  • Sanitising the NBSZ laboratory.
  • Collaborating with external waste disposal service providers.
  • Collecting linen for laundry from laboratory and clinic.
  • Sorting waste according to type in line with safety and health recommendations.
  • Cleaning and maintaining NBSZ laboratory equipment and utensils in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Disposing waste from laboratory interiors to exterior designated waste disposal sites.

Qualifications & Experience

  • A minimum of five ordinary level passes including English Language.
  • A hard worker who requires minimal supervision.
  • An honest and reliable person.

Additional Information

Reporting to the Medical Laboratory Technician.
Contract period: Five-year fixed term contract.
