Job Description

Bikita Minerals invites applications from suitable candidates to fill the position of Artisan Carpenter. The successful candidate will perform trade-related carpentry, construction, and maintenance on mining infrastructure, ensuring structural integrity, safety, and operational efficiency. The position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor or his designee.

Duties & Responsibilities

Construct, install, and repair wooden structures such as frameworks, roofing, scaffolding, and formwork for mining operations.
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and building plans.
Measure, cut, shape, and join timber and other materials using hand and power tools.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on buildings, offices, workshops, and plant structures.
Diagnose and repair faults on structural components during production/operation.
Conduct inspections in accordance with Mine Health and Safety Act regulations.
Develop, modify, construct, and install related equipment for safe operation.
Refurbish and overhaul structures as required.
Identify spares and material requirements and order according to departmental procedure.
Maintain good housekeeping in the working area.
Execute maintenance task lists and complete SAP work orders.
Participate in plant maintenance planning and scheduling.

Qualifications & Experience

Journeyman Class 1 Carpenter.
National Certificate / Diploma in Carpentry or related field.
At least 5 O levels including English, Mathematics, and Science.
5 years' experience as a Carpenter in a mining environment or heavy industry.
Solid knowledge of SHE management systems.
Strong mechanical aptitude.
Must be 18 years and above.
