Job Description

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist in carrying out preventative and breakdown maintenance on diesel equipment.
• Support repairs on engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and braking systems.
• Help dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble components under supervision.
• Perform routine servicing such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication.
• Assist in maintaining mining equipment such as dump trucks, excavators, front-end loaders, dozers and graders.
• Assist in conducting routine inspections and identifying mechanical faults.
• Report defects and abnormal equipment behaviour to the supervisor.
• Follow safe lifting, handling, and lockout/tagout procedures.
• Report hazards, near misses, and incidents immediately.

Skills/Tags

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum National Certificate or Class 4 Journeyman (Diesel Plant Fitting) or equivalent.
• Basic mechanical knowledge of diesel engines and heavy equipment.
• 2 to 4 years experience in a mining or heavy equipment environment is an advantage.
