Job Description

Performance Laboratories Pvt Ltd, an ISO17025:2017 accredited analytical and assay service provider for Zimbabwe’s mining and mineral processing industries, is seeking a Laboratory Supervisor. The role oversees laboratory operations in Sample Preparation or Analytical Testing, ensuring quality results, ISO compliance, and operational efficiency.

Duties & Responsibilities

Supervise sample preparation processes: drying, crushing, pulverizing, fluxing.
Oversee analytical workflows: fusion, digestion, instrumental analysis (XRF, AAS, ICP-OES).
Coordinate metallurgical test works and bottle roll procedures.
Ensure compliance with ISO17025:2017, SOPs, and safety protocols.
Validate methods across geochemical, water, and agricultural testing.
Supervise and mentor laboratory technicians, assistants, trainees, and students.
Conduct troubleshooting, reporting, audits, and equipment calibration.

Qualifications & Experience

Degree in Chemical Technology, Applied Chemistry, Metallurgical Assay, or related scientific field.
Minimum 4 years’ experience in a laboratory environment.
Certificates in ISO17025:2017 are an added advantage.
Proficiency in instrument operation (XRF, AAS, ICP-OES), method development and validation, and technical reporting.
Strong leadership, analytical, and quality control skills.
Working knowledge of safety protocols and ISO standards.
Quality-driven and detail-oriented.
Excellent leadership and staff supervision skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage technical workflows efficiently.
Effective communication and reporting skills.
Commitment to safety and regulatory compliance.
